The Little League Rule
Against Head First Slides
- Little League forbids head first slides in Majors,
Minors, and below, unless the runner is returning to a base. The runner is out
and the ball is alive. Rule 7.08(a)(4)
- Distinguish between a head first slide (out) and a
trip or a stumble (nothing). If the runner is not near a base, or there is no
play on the runner and no defensive player is nearby, it probably wasn't a
slide.
